Outdoor School

Kids Get Smarter Outdoors

“Average Americans spend less than 5% of their life in classrooms, and an ever-growing body of evidence demonstrates that most science is learned outside of school,” according to two Oregon State University researchers.

Children and Nature Network co-founder Richard Louv suggests that outdoor experiences improve academic performance. A study of 500+ Chicago schools found that greening schools is a cost-effective way to raise student test scores.

“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
- Romans 12:1-2
